a former 30-year resident of Green Valley, passed away on March 22, 2009, in New York, while living with her daughter Ann. Born in Vilvoorde, Belgium, Lisette traveled to New York City in 1932, where she worked as a professional cake decorator in her father’s pastry shop. She moved to Cortland, N.Y. in 1938, and married the late Mahlon Cleveland. Lisette worked at Anaren and Syracuse Research Corp. in Syracuse, N.Y., before she retired to Green Valley in 1979. She loved to travel, drink martinis and really loved Arizona. She always felt “Heaven was one step down from Arizona.” She was preceded in death by her husband Mahlon and grandson Brad Owens Lisette is survived by her son Bruce Cleveland of Amber, N.Y.; daughters Ann Owens of Syracuse and Judy (Wayne) Eirich of Custer, S.D.; as well as seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
