ObituariesAs a snowbird, Frank embraced the Green Valley lifestyle, but was a ‘Northwesterner’ at heart, with Washington State being his home. Frank was preceded in death by Ann, his wife of 22 years; and his brother Jack. He is survived by his wife Emily; his four children Karen Mallory, Rick (Glenny) Mallory, Barb (Calyx) Hoag, and Gail (Michael) Budde; plus his eight grandchildren Kyle, Ann, Rachel, Jamie, April, Neal, Sage and Jill; and his sister Kay Apley. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and circumnavigating the world, he graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was proud to be a PE (Professional Engineer) in the telecommunications industry, and rose through the ranks to be a corporate vice president with GTE. After retiring from GTE, he worked for Boeing Computer Services for five years, and subsequently moved to Lopez Island, Wash., where he enjoyed the good life of boating, crabbing, golfing, and many fine friendships. Wherever Frank lived, he gave much back to his community through various organizations including Rotary, Lions, the Red Cross, his church, and coaching Little League Baseball. Frank was a ‘project man,’ who could do almost anything. As one friend said, “he had a kind and generous nature and an engineer’s mind.” The only love greater in his life than boating was his love for his wonderful children and grandchildren. If you wish to honor Frank with a memorial donation, please do so to the American Diabetes Association, 333 W. Fort Lowell Rd., #123, Tucson, AZ 85705.
