ObituariesOur beloved husband and father, THOMAS D. “TOM” HENRY,
died unexpectedly on Friday, April 3, 2009. Tom had just returned home after spending the past three months in various hospitals battling Guillain Barre Syndrome from which he was expected to make a complete recovery. His death was rapid and peaceful. He is survived by Lynn, his wife of 40 years as well as son Michael and daughter-in-law Kristin. Born on June 27, 1940, Tom lived his early years in El Paso, Texas where he graduated from Texas Western University with a BS in electrical engineering; and the University of Texas at El Paso with a MS in electrical engineering. His career took him to North Carolina, where he worked as a Senior Engineer for AT&T/Lucent Technologies, traveling the world working on U.S. Navy projects and publishing numerous articles on various facets of communications. At an early age, he developed an avid interest in astronomy which he pursued his entire life. An active member of the Sonora Astronomical Society, he was looking forward to resuming his activities with his many friends in the club. A fixture for several years at the Las Campanas Rec Center, Tom enjoyed the friendships he developed with the other members at the fitness center. Model railroading and motorcycle riding also held strong interests for him. A devoted and loving husband and father, as well as a man who was loved and respected by his many friends, he will be sorely missed.
