Obituariespassed away peacefully while with her family on April 2, 2009, at her home in Green Valley. She was preceded in death by Milton Lee Gant, her husband of 50 years; both of her parents; and her three sisters and two brothers. Betty grew up in Wilsey, Kan. and graduated from Wilsey High School. She taught school there until shortly after marrying the love of her life on March 27, 1951. The life that they shared together included many adventures, including the raising of their five children, owning a local restaurant, and moving to Arizona in 1973. She worked for Anamax Mines as an accountant for 10 years. After retiring, she babysat for any family in need, raised poodles, and threw newspapers for TNI. Her light shines through everyone that knew her. She will continue to shine through her children: Vicki and Roger Hewitt, Brad and Jeri Lee Gant, Jan and Russ Phillips, Lonny and Lisa Gant, Tammi Smith and Jack Wilson; all of her 13 grandchildren and her 17 great-grandchildren; and one surviving sister JoAnn Phillips. The family will celebrate her life without holding services locally, however we would love for you to share your memories with emails, letters and cards telling about how she touched your life - 1560 S. Santa Belia, Green Valley, AZ 85614 or email Paperg20616@aol.com. The family will be taking her home to Wilsey with a Celebration of Life to be held May 30, 2009. Donations to your local Parkinson’s Foundation would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
