NewsGVCCC directory volunteers get a thank you
By Rich RicheySpecial to the Green Valley News One hundred sixty-six community-spirited citizens volunteered to unload, store and distribute 31,700 copies of the 2009 Green Valley Community Directory in mid-February. A week ago, 140 of them were able to attend a thank-you luncheon hosted by the Green Valley Community Coordinating Council at the Desert Hills Social Center. Executive Director Sandi Richey brought together volunteers, staff, a country-western band, a pizza maker and a wildlife presentation for a fun time. Special acknowledgments were accorded to Joyce Finkelstein for all her years devoted to the directory; Tim Trosper, owner of Green Valley Plumbing, and his wife, Mary Jean, for Tim’s years of forklift work in unloading semi-trailers full of directories; and Buzz Harper and his wife for spearheading the delivery work of the Green Valley Marines. John Norris was thanked for reviewing the map data that goes into the books. New administrative assistant for GVCCC, Susan Jones, will have primary responsibility for producing the 2010 and future community directories. Richey expressed her appreciation to all the volunteers who made this year’s operation a great success. She enjoined all to get ready for next year.
