BusinessNew firm helps businesses be their best
By Karen Walengawww.gvnews.com In today’s challenging economy, businesses of all sizes need to be operating at their best to survive. “Everyone needs to look at cost containment in this economy,” said Mark Bollin of Ad Hoc Business Resources LLC. Bollin, a Quail Creek resident, and his business partner, Bob Horn, of Oro Valley, launched their business in mid-February, building on their decades of experience in the business world. The company offers business assessments, development tools and top-notch referrals, all aimed at business growth. “We have the unique ability to help businesses find the cracks in their foundations, provide helpful resources and make the business stronger,” Bollin says. Horn said business problems are nothing new, and solutions have been around almost as long as the problems. Ad Hoc Business Resources has come up with a system to provide time-tested, problem-solving resources and serves as a central clearinghouse, or “matchmaker,” he said. “We’re not CPAs, bankers or attorneys, but we know people who are” and can refer businesses in need to those and many other types of services, including sales training and manufacturing suppliers. No business owner can be skilled in every area and will need to outsource parts of any job. A product designer, for example, may not have good marketing or accounting skills so, Horn advises, “don’t do what you do badly. Pull in the right kind of support.” Bollin and Horn consider themselves business “optimizers,” not consultants. They believe in respecting a company’s ideals, giving options and letting the company’s own staff put those changes in place and take it forward at their own pace, and within their budget. Also, Ad Hoc Business Resources works on a pay-per-performance basis. “We are not on a retainer. When we do something positive for a business, we earn our keep,” they said. A key to such successes is the experience, business contacts and trust the two have established in the Southern Arizona business world. Horn brings experience in starting and restructuring businesses. In Arizona, he has been a lead counselor for the Small Business Development Center at Pima Community College and was with the city of Tucson’s office of economic development. Bollin has a technical background and experience with Fortune 500 companies and start-ups alike. He is a graduate of Ithaca College, former marketing manager for the Green Valley News and is skilled in building teams, consensus and efficiencies. Both have been in the business for three decades and their work has been recognized by the Arizona Small Business Association, the Small Business Innovative Research Project and others. kwalenga@gvnews.com | 547-9739 Find out more Go online to www.adhocbiz.com for more information or write to Ad Hoc Business Resources LLC, P.O.
