STEPHEN P. GEOHEGAN

passed away early Tuesday morning, March 24, 2009.

Steve was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Dec.. 23, 1933. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BS in architecture and received an AIA award for excellence in architecture. He was also a member of the U.S. Army, serving at Fort Huachuca.

As an architect, Steve participated in construction of several buildings at Ohio State University and designed many government buildings, commercial buildings and schools in Northern Kentucky including Ryle High School in Union, Ky. Steve was noted for his attention to detail and exacting design as well as his strong work ethic and persistence. He worked with the Robert Ehmet Hayes architectural firm where he was highly regarded for his good design principles and high level of service to the client.

Steve was married 51 years to his wife Ellen. They have two sons David and Stephen, as well as their wives Joan and Robin, and their six grandchildren Megan, Kyle, Kaitlin, Matthew, Kevin and Anna. Steve was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He always demonstrated concern for the well-being of others.

After retiring to Green Valley with Ellen, he mentored students at Continental Elementary School and volunteered for the Esperanza after-school gardening program. Steve was a former president of Desert Meadows I HOA and made many good, lasting friends in this neighborhood. He was also a trained CERTS member and a member of the Green Valley Architectural Review Board. He was an avid hiker, sightseer, photographer and painter of natural landscapes.

Steve provided a fine example of a gentle and humble spirit in accordance with God’s instructions. His life is a victory in Christ.
