Abby Abby and two of her feline friends were taken from Pima Animal Care Center “just in time” when some very kind people called The Animal League of Green Valley to see if maybe they had just a bit more room to squeeze in three very needy and loving cats. Well, happy to say, they did, so Abby’s there, all 6 pounds of her, happy to be sharing her space with lots of other lovely felines. She is a charming, torti/tabby, 3-year-old lady who is a bit shy at the moment, but that won’t last long! Abby has recently been spayed and pronounced very healthy, so now she dreams of having a home where she’ll never have to leave again. No one knows how or why she ended up at PACC, but everyone agrees that she’s a sweetie of the first order and deserves another chance at life. So what’s keeping you? Come on down and make Abby yours! Chanel And she’s just as sleek and slim as Coco Chanel herself! She’s a drop-dead-gorgeous, shiny black, approximately 1-year-old girl with riveting green eyes who was found near Mission Twin Buttes Road in May 2008. Chanel lived with her rescuer and two dogs for a while, and they all got along famously. Sadly, her rescuer was allergic to her, so Chanel is now “in the market” for a new home where there are no allergies (at least not to felines!) and where she will be able to be the playful youngster that she still is (and will be for quite awhile!). Her “mom” said that she was mischievous and kittenlike (those adjectives go hand in hand) loves to play with balls with bells inside them, and that she needs (and really wants) lots of attention and love. It sounds like Chanel is ready made for a cat lover who has an empty lap and open heart - so if that sounds like you, well… Chanel can be yours in a second! Hershey (Pictured) Hershey came to TALGV a bit under the weather, but the wonderful folks there treated him with medicine and lots of TLC, so he became fit as a fiddle in no time. He is a sweet, handsome, chocolate Lab mix guy (thus his name!) with some white on his chest and paws, and a face that will win you over in a heartbeat. Hershey was found by a great family and stayed with them (mom, dad, two kids and two terriers and they all got along just great), but they simply didn’t have the wherewithal to feed one more mouth. At 4 months Hershey weighs almost 27 pounds, so he will be a good size fellow when he’s grown. If you come in and get to know Hershey, we’re sure that he’ll be able to convince you that he is the perfect pal for you. Panda Panda is a male Queensland Heeler mix (similar to a Blue Heeler). He is 12 months old and weighs 40 pounds. He has had his shots and has been neutered. He is housebroken and obedience trained. He is mainly kept outside, but is kenneled in the garage at night. Panda enjoys children and other dogs, but his relationship with cats is unknown. Panda was a gift from friends, but the owners can no longer keep him as they have four other dogs. Panda is very active in his play with the other dogs and loves to jump around. He is a very good dog and could easily be trained to be an inside companion. Since he is part of TALGV’s Offsite Program, there is no fee for Panda. To find out more about Panda and/or to make arrangements to meet him, please call TALGV’s Offsite Dog Coordinator, Cathie Fisher, at (520) 648-3738. For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org. If you can spare a 3- or 4-hour block of time each week, please contact TALGV to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available, and to find out more about a rewarding in-home experience, please stop by and ask about our foster program. TALGV is now open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 days a week. prueter@gvnews.com | 547-9735
