NewsA Green Valley man was seriously injured last week when a car struck his grocery cart in the Continental Shopping Plaza, knocking him to the ground. The accident occurred March 11, when a motorist driving through the parking lot hit the man’s cart, which hit him in the chest and threw him to the ground, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s report. A Green Valley Fire crew treated the 77-year-old man, who was bleeding from his head and ears, according to the report. He was taken to University Medical Center in Tucson for treatment. KUAT cutting analog signal early Public television station KUAT (Channel 6) will make the switch to all-digital broadcast on April 1, well ahead of the June 12 federal deadline. Recent weather damage to KUAT’s broadcast equipment on Mt. Bigelow influenced the decision, said Jack Gibson, director and general manager of Arizona Public Media. As of April 1, a television capable of receiving a digital signal or a digital converter box will be necessary to get the station. Those with satellite TV or cable are not affected. Fire district offers CPR, first aid classes The Green Valley Fire District is offering first aid and CPR classes starting next week. Several types of classes are available and open to the public. Classes meet Saturdays at 9 a.m. at GVFD headquarters, 285 W. Camino Encanto, Green Valley. Costs range from $30 to $50. The two-hour “Family and Friends” class, for people interested in learning CPR without being certified, costs $30 and will be set up upon request. Information: 625-9400, Ext. 462.
