Pets up for adoption

Mavis

Nine pounds of pure love - that’s Mavis! She was found wandering on Duval Mine Road just west of La Canada Drive in early February. She went to live with a foster family for short time, but they decided not to keep her because of her special needs. It seems she has occasional seizures, and she is now on a very small amount of medication that controls them.

Mavis is a charming, 6- or 7-year old fawn-colored terrier/Chihuahua mix lady who was already spayed when she was found, so she obviously belonged to someone who cared at one time.

Mavis is ever so eager to please, knows several commands, is perfectly housebroken, and loves to go for walks with you. Her favorite thing though is to sit in your lap or next to you and keep you company throughout the day. If you don’t mind giving her a little pill once every three days then you and Mavis can have a terrific life together.

Kane

Kane’s only “crime” was that for some reason his beloved mom’s husband didn’t like him. (He really didn’t treat Kane very well at all and kept him in a crate an awful lot of the time.) Kane tried, he really did - for a whole year, from the time he went to live with them when he was a puppy - but it just wasn’t meant to be.

Kane is a 1-year-old, mostly black and tan, Australian/German shepherd mix boy who is just as handsome as they come.

His little family also had several kids, and they got along fine although Kane was a bit rambunctious when he was allowed out to play!

He knows lots of commands (sit, stay, go, no, leave it, and paw), is perfectly housebroken (and crate-trained, of course!), and he loves to play with soccer and tennis balls and to spend lots of time with those wonderful chewy toys that they make for dogs

. Since his experience with his human dad, Kane is a bit wary of men, but once he realizes that they mean him no harm, he will be as loving with them as he was with his mom. If looks and brains turn your head, then Kane is just the guy for you!

Cata

It’s hard to imagine why a lovely lady like Cata would be surrendered by her owner to the county animal shelter, but that’s where she found herself awhile back. Fortunately for Cata, several rescue groups got together and bailed her out, but because they didn’t have room to keep her, they prevailed upon TALGV to take her in.

Well, here she is in all her long-haired, black and orange torti glory, just waiting for a cat-deprived human to make her theirs (forever this time, she hopes).

Cata is just 3 years old, and is a tiny thing at a bit over 5 pounds, so she’ll make some lucky person the best lap cat in the whole world. You know that since she’s been through so much in her life, she will be forever grateful for a warm and loving home where her people will think that she is the best thing since canned tuna (her words). If you think that might be you, then please stop by and sit with Cata for awhile - you’ll have a real treat in store!

Bandy

You have to wonder what a handsome devil like Bandy was doing out in the desert, but that seems to be a question that’s being asked often lately about lots of pets.

Bandy has luxuriant orange and white fur, spellbinding yellow/orange eyes to match, and a personality that ties it all together in one terrific package. The guess is that he’s only about a year or so old, and although he wasn’t neutered when he was brought in, that was taken care of in a flash.

Considering that he’s been outside for a good while, Bandy is super healthy and his coat is in good shape, so all he really needs is a home where he can explore all those delightful nooks and crannies, share his life with cat-loving people, and maybe even watch the world go by for the rest of his life (which will be a good long one!) from the safety of a screened porch or window. Orange and white guys are very popular, so you’d better get on down here right away to be sure that you don’t miss out on Bandy!
