NewsGreen Valley may lose automated postal center
By Jaime Richardson, Green Valley NewsThe post office on Continental Road in Green Valley may lose its new automated postal center — a 24-hour self-service kiosk located in the front lobby — unless more people start using it. Postmaster Sandy Rios says the most money the machine has brought in in one day was nearly $3,000, but some days, revenue has been less than $50. Though it was installed in October, many people seem apprehensive about using it, or may not know it’s there, said Rios. “I don’t think people realize how easy this thing is to use,” she said. “If you can use and ATM, you can use one of these.” Automated postal centers let you perform most postal transactions, including sending packages and letters, buying stamps, checking the delivery status of items mailed using Delivery Confirmation, and searching for a ZIP code. The machine accepts both credit and debit cards. It can be used during the day to avoid lines, or after hours at your own convenience, Rios said. “If you want to, you can now buy stamps at 3 in the morning.” About 2,500 post offices across the country now have automated postal centers, she said. jrichardson@gvnews.com | 547-9726

In many areas of the country Mr. Woods would be free to select other desired items. The resident's initial call would have been ignored since the suspicious person did not seemingly gain entrance was no longer present. "
