NewsThe Green Valley branch of the Arizona Opera League will host a preview for the upcoming Arizona Opera production of Gaetano Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore on Friday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Performing Arts and Learning Center Rehearsal Hall, 1250 West Continental Road. James Flora, tenor, from the Arizona Opera Studio will sing Nemorino’s two arias, which will include “una furtivo lagrima,” made famous by a number of great tenors of the last century. Flora will accompanied by Martin Majkut. The lector is Iris Arnesen, publisher of the Opera Glass. Admission is $7. Refreshments will be served after the presentation. Arizona Opera starts the year with a production of Gaetano Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love) on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m, and Sunday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center Music Hall. “The Elixer of Love” premiered in Milan in 1832 and is known for it’s charming motives, graceful melodies, a barcarole and noted choral piece in Act II. For tickets, call the box office at 293-4336 or visit any TicketMaster outlet. The Chetmobile bus will shuttle Green Valley Opera attendees to the Sunday matinee.
