NewsTALGV volunteers join our dogs and cats in wishing our friends in Green Valley a safe and joyous end to 2008 and a happy and healthy 2009. Mocha Way back in January, Mocha was found abandoned in the desert (along with his mother and two brothers) when the pups were just a week old and their eyes weren’t even open yet. Fortunately, a lady saw them, called TALGV, and she and one of the volunteers managed to get them all into a crate and safely here. Well, they all eventually went their separate ways to new homes, but the people who adopted Mocha soon found out that the adorable, fluffy, 8-week-old puppy they adopted rapidly turned into a rambunctious teenager who was a lot bigger than they’d expected. He has a lot of shepherd in him, and you know what that means: intelligence, enthusiasm, and devotion! He is a “mocha” colored, neutered, 1-year-old boy who just needs a good home. His personal trainer at TALGV has taught him a lot of new things, too. He does “sit,” “leave it,” and “come” very well, and he’s good on walks, both on and off the leash. He’s also housebroken and sleeps all night without bothering anyone. All that he asks in return is some exercise and love. Mocha hopes you’re waiting right around the corner! Snoopy Everyone knows Snoopy’s namesake - well he’s a lot like him, only bigger, so if you’re a “big dog” person, then this Snoopy is just the guy for you! He is an almost 2-year-old, microchipped, 86-pound, Dalmatian/Lab mix. (Although he needs to lose a few pounds, he’ll always be large in dog measurement terms!) Snoopy’s family had to move from their home into a place that has size restrictions on dogs and, sadly, Snoopy’s over the limit. He lived with them (a couple, two other dogs, but no kids) all his life (they rescued him from a shelter in Tucson when he was 6 weeks old), and right now he is missing them an awful lot. Snoopy was pretty shy when he arrived at TALGV two weeks ago, but with all the attention he’s been getting, he came out of his shell in no time. He is mostly white with endearing black ears and strategically placed spots here and there. Snoopy loves to play tug of war with those floppy pull toys dogs have, and his people said that he’s “healthy as a horse,” so if you’d like a young, vigorous, friend to share the New Year (and the rest of your life) with, then your search has ended! Rudy Rudy is a wonderful cat who has been at TALGV too long. The kind couple who found him late last year were both highly allergic to cats and couldn’t allow him in the house. For awhile, he was pretty comfortable sleeping in their open garage, but they were worried about a coyote nabbing him, so they found what they thought was going to be a permanent, safe, indoor home for him. Rudy loved it with his new mom but it turned out that she couldn’t keep him either because of some serious domestic issues, so Rudy is still looking for that special place he’ll never have to leave. He is a beautiful, medium-sized, almost 2-year-old, buff and white neutered boy who loves just about everyone (although he’s never been around kids). Rudy loves to cuddle and have his stomach and head scratched and lay his head on your pillow with you at night. He would be so happy if you could open your home and your heart to him so that he never again has to worry about moving. Gatito Although Gatito had been scraping by outside for awhile when he was found, his rescuer said that she thinks Gatito must have been an inside cat in a loving environment at one time because he is very affectionate and trusting and really wanted to come inside. She had to keep him outside though because she already had a cat, and not knowing whether Gatito was positive for feline leukemia, she didn’t want to take a chance. Well, now that he’s here at TALGV, he’s been tested for that (he’s negative!) and given all his shots, tons of good food, and lots of love. Gatito is a young, neutered, tabby boy who is about a year or so old. Right now he’s pretty laid back and quiet, but once he’s in a home, he’ll come into his own and make his new people a wonderful, grateful, loving companion. It would be so nice for Gatito to spend the rest of his life with a cat-loving, cat-spoiling person or family, so if that sounds like you, Gatito is ready to make beautiful music with you.
