Mexican shoppers

Editor:

An article in the Arizona Daily Star recently described the value of the Mexican market to the Tucson area.

Although the impact of Mexican visitors shopping here has long been acknowledged, its importance in this economic downturn has the spotlight.

When the Mexican people have money to spend on merchandise in our stores, we welcome them with open arms and launch marketing campaigns in Mexico to attract even more shoppers with discounted hotel rates and shopping tours.

I’d like to see such focus on a guest worker program for the poor people of Mexico, rather than a guest shopper program for the wealthy Write to your congressperson now.
