Mexican citizen found hanged near border near Sasabe

Published: Tuesday, December 23, 2008 6:38 PM MST

Border Patrol agents last week found a Mexican citizen hanging from a belt around his neck from a tree.

Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada said the man, Isidro Revoller Herrera, 61, was from the Mexican state of Michoacan.

Sheriff’s Lt. Raoul Rodriguez said there was nothing immediately suggesting foul play.

The body was found seven or eight miles southwest of Sasabe.

His belongings, including bottles of water, were found nearby.

Rodriguez said although Herrera died on an immigrant route, there were indications that he had been living in the United States.

Sasabe is at the U.S. - Mexico border.

The Mexican consulate in Nogales was notified and the man’s body was taken to the Pima County medical examiner.
