ColumnsAll cellular metabolism depends upon physical movement and gravity to maintain proper organ function. NASA has studied this relationship for years in great depth. Depending upon the length of time the astronauts were on the mission, they dealt with space sickness or space adaptation syndrome where the body reacts in many different ways. The vascular system reduces its cardiac output with changes noted in peripheral vascular circulation. There were gastrointestinal changes affecting digestion and bowel function. An acceleration of osteoporosis was apparent. A loss of 15 percent bone and muscular mass was noted in a 15-day period. Space mice with faster metabolism lost up to 40 percent in the same period. This reaction would be comparable in an individual that was bedfast for this period of time. This would also be reflected on someone that spends much of their time reading or doing computer work. You might be interested in knowing that essentially all of the energy that we utilize by the body functions and physical movement is produced by mitochondria in each of the cells of the body. They are called the powerhouse of the cell. There will be all the way from a few in the cell to thousands depending upon demand. If the demand is greater, there will be many. When the demand is less, such as in the case of astronauts or many of us that are not demanding much cellular activity, the number per cell will be less. This is not only true in our musculoskeletal system but within the brain and other organs of the body also. I have been researching ways that we may be able to maintain good cellular energy output in a reliable convenient way. Most of the exercise programs are only musculoskeletal. I researched and have found minimal studies done that reflect on the internal organs and the brain. There are some that do a good job in supporting the cardiovascular system, particularly if you are preparing for some extensive exercise accomplishment. To make changes in intracellular fluid flow and intercellular fluid flow, which is between the cells, and improve lymphatic flow, positive and negative gravity pressure must be taken into consideration. The intercellular lymphatics depend upon the alternation of positive and negative gravity pressure as well as surrounding muscular activity to move the lymph along. This activity is so important in relieving toxic byproduct congestion between the cells. NASA started experimenting many years ago with ways of creating alternating positive and negative gravity forces that was effective but not strenuous. They found that the application of vertical rebound exercises such as on a well-designed, easy applicable small trampoline accomplished this. It improved cardiac output with less strenuous effort. This was accomplished by improving return venous circulation by increasing peripheral vascular arterial circulation and enhancing venous return from the lower extremities. There has been some research done with post-stroke rehabilitation and post-traumatic injuries rehabilitation. In many of these cases, they may have the patients sit on the trampoline or actually sit in a wheelchair in some cases on the trampoline. The goal is to have the patient’s body experience the vertical positive and negative gravity forces which enhances the removal of toxic byproducts and the intake of necessary nutritional components in all parts of the body including the brain, plus enhancing blood circulation many times through narrow blood vessels that are thickened by disease. The changes in gravity forces are being accomplished automatically by bouncing on the health therapy designed small trampoline by the amount of spring load on the netting. It is designed to create the right amount of accelerated upward bounce with a minimal amount of downward force while standing on the center of the low mounted trampoline. At the top end of this upward accelerated force a negative downward force is created by relieving gravity pull on body. The repeated upward positive force followed by a negative downward force affects all the cells of the body. Fluids in all of the cells and around all of the cells plus within the vascular bed and lymphatic drainage channels are moved as intended by nature eliminating metabolic byproducts and bringing in nutritional necessities for a healthy intracellular metabolism in all parts of the body. Much of our osteoporosis is influenced by poor fluid and nutritional exchange within the bone structure and other components of the musculoskeletal system. All organs of the body, as was mentioned before, require this altered positive and negative gravity force to maintain metabolic health. Another good example of the necessity of this ongoing gravity exchange is in the brain including the vestibular system within the inner ear. Our gradual loss of equilibrium as we get older is a good demonstration of the importance of maintaining good intracellular and intercellular fluid and nutritional exchange. This ties in well with finishing off our series of maintaining a healthy, well functioning intracellular metabolism, immune system, circulatory and lymphatic system in a cancerous or post-cancerous condition. It is another extremely important aspect in avoiding a return of cancer that requires stressful steps to eradicate. The vertical rebounder I have found designed for optimum positive and negative gravity exchange is called the “Health-Bounce Light.” It expresses the greatest amount of vertical movement with the least amount of effort and ankle and low back trauma. At this time it is not sold in any of the larger outlet stores. In this area it can be seen or ordered by calling 520-777-6929. There is a Web site that may answer some specific questions and that is www.trampoline4all.com. I have to make a quick comment on an article in Sunday’s Green Valley News in regard to “U.S. Health System Fails the Chronically Ill.” At this moment, the majority of the money spent on health is spent in the last year of life. It has truly become a huge monetary business with little regard for maintaining health, only correcting that which has broken down. Have a pleasant Christmas, and make someone smile.
