LettersEditor: I would like to respond to the letter from Robin Lowe. I don’t know how long she has been retired or lived in Green Valley; however, since I have lived here, the cost of GVR has more than doubled and my income is the same. I know that the more recent move-ins are much more affluent than most of us who have been here for 15 years or more. And on her second point, I for one was not aware that I was bound for life unless I were to move. And moving is not an inexpensive alternative, especially with the current market situation. GVR, other than price, is not the same organization that I joined. I was here before we had the leash law requiring us to wear a badge around our necks or the Gestapo watching every move we make and we could bring guests anytime free. And the last point. I think we have many more facilities than needed. The reason they seem crowded is due to most people wanting to go at certain times of the day. Most of the time the pools are nearly empty and the work-out rooms are far from being at full capacity. The latest Keeping Current stated that the Canoa Ranch facility was needed because the residents didn’t want to drive a mile or two to the Canoa Hills facility. Really? At that rate we would need several more. I live 2 1/2 miles from the nearest one. And I feel you are very ill-informed, i e, school support is a tax and as such is deductible from income tax. GVR fees are not. No one should infer analogies where none exists. And you might read the real estate adds. GVR is no longer considered a plus when it comes to selling properties. E. H.
