EDWARD J. BUTLER, of Green Valley,

died Nov. 21, 2008, in Tucson after a brief illness.

Ed was born in Highland Park, Ill., on Feb. 21, 1930. He and his wife Beverly moved to Green Valley from Mundelein, Ill., in 1990 after his retirement from the trucking industry.

In Green Valley, Ed was a volunteer with the Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers (SAV). He also worked for Ace Hardware.

Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly, of Green Valley; sons Edward Butler of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and James Butler of Wilmington, Ill.; grandsons Derek Butler and Dexter Butler of Myrtle Beach; a great-granddaughter Mackenzie Butler of Fox Lake, Ill.; and one brother and three sisters. A son, Kenneth Butler, of Green Valley died in 1998.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 18090 S. La Canada Dr., Sahuarita.

The family requests memorials to the Salvation Army, 660 W. Camino Casa Verde, Green Valley, or to The Animal League of Green Valley, 1600 W. Duval Mine Rd., Green Valley.
