CHARLES DANA HUDSON passed away on Nov. 19, 2008, in Tucson.

Born in 1925 in Spokane, Wash., the son of C. D. and Rhea Woodruff Hudson, he moved with his family to Washington, D. C. in 1933, and lived in that area for most of his life until retirement.

Survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlene of Green Valley;, a brother Howard of Gettysburg, Pa., sisters Mary Baum of East Greenbush, N.Y., Dorothy Robson of Hancock, Vt., Virginia Gooden of Columbia, Md., and many nieces and nephews. Sisters Ruth Churchill, Margaret Ward and Janice May preceded him in death.

He served in the Pacific in the U.S. Navy in WWII aboard the destroyer escort Williams. He graduated from American University in Washington, D. C. where he was president of Alpha Tau Omega. He was Vice-President of the Letterex Corp. and later formed his own company. Professional Maintenance Corporation, specializing in building maintenance and carpet cleaning in the Washington, D. C. area.

After selling his company, he went to work for the facilities division of the International Monetary Fund. As a part owner of General Security Corp. in Washington, it was he who was called in the early morning of June 17, 1972, when a guard twice found a basement door taped open in the Watergate complex. The chain of events that followed eventually led to the resignation of Richard Nixon.

An avid reader, a licensed pilot, an enthusiastic RVer, and a long time member of the Barbershop Quartet Society, he sang with chapters in College Park, Md., Fairfax, Va., Dayton, Ohio, Ocala, Fla., Tucson and Green Valley. He lived in Tubac for many years before coming to Green Valley in 2003.
