Obituaries

GEORGE E. WARREN JR., quietly passed away on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

He was born the second son of George E. Warren Sr. and Grace Alice (Henderson) Warren on Aug. 3, 1923, in DeKalb County, Mo. George served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he met and married his wife of 65 years, then 2nd Lieutenant Nellie Kurtz, a dietitian stationed at Camp Hood in Texas,

George is survived by his wife Nellie; son George III; daughter-in-law Jackquelyn; and granddaughter Jennifer. He will also be missed by his brothers-in-law Donald Kurtz and Robert Kurtz, sister-in-law Esther Robinson and their families; as well as his many friends. He was preceded in death by his two brothers and a sister.

After George retired from the insurance business he worked for the Saginaw County, Mich. Sheriff Department as a pilot and a full time deputy. George enjoyed flying, fishing and golf. He and Nellie have been members of the Valley Presbyterian Church since retiring to Green Valley. George was also a member of the Green Valley Elks Lodge #2592.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Valley Presbyterian Church. Remembrances can be made to Valley Presbyterian Church or to your favorite charity in George’s name.
