La Posada: The building continues

Despite the general economic slowdown, La Posada continues to fulfill its plan for expansion.

As the largest continuing care retirement community in the area, La Posada will soon break ground for 35 additional homes on their Continental Road Campus.

Called Park Center Homes, these new individual homes will be built around several floor plans ranging from 1,800 to 2,200 square feet.

According to Tim Carmichael, La Posada’s vice president of marketing, the new homes will be available for occupancy in June of 2010.

“We have had a great deal of interest in these new homes and hope to begin bringing some under contract early in 2009” Carmichael said.

La Posada is also in the process of adding a third apartment unit to its assisted living complex.

This additional 30,000 square feet of space will house thirteen one-bedroom suites and eight two-bedroom suites.

Next to open will be The Shoppes at La Posada.

This retail plaza will be staffed almost completely by La Posada residents and will include a gourmet coffee shop, convenience store, art gallery, treasure shop, barber shop, and a museum.

Also in the planning stage is an on-campus Bed and Breakfast.

“The B&B will be a wonderful place for friends and relatives to stay while they are visiting La Posada residents.” Carmichael said.
