Habitat For Humanity orientation this Saturday

Published: Tuesday, November 4, 2008 9:26 PM MST

The Santa Cruz County chapter of Habitat for Humanity is having a homeowner selection orientation at the Green Valley Community Church at 300 W. Esperanza Blvd. on Saturday from 10-11 and Nov. 15 at the same time.

Families with an annual income of over $19,250, a solid credit record (no bankruptcies or bad credit) and are willing to work volunteer hours with Habitat building homes (400 hours for a family with a single adult, 800 for a two-parent household) might be eligible for a Habitat home and should apply.

At the orientation, applicants will receive paperwork that they will have two weeks to complete if they chose to continue with the process.

Margo Doll of Habitat said that even families who have applied for a Habitat home before should apply again.

“You can apply over and over again,” Doll said. “If they didn’t get it the first time, that doesn’t mean that shouldn’t apply for the next house.”
