No support for women

Published: Thursday, October 30, 2008 8:26 PM MST

Betty Johnson (10/19/08) purports that Obama supports women. I would beg to disagree.

She points out that Obama cosponsored the Prevention First Act which will increase access to, and funding for, family planning.

Does this really support women? No.

Does anyone really want to pay for services for a girl child as young as 12 years old to be given contraceptives or pointed toward an abortion without her parents ever knowing about it?

Giving these children contraceptives is sending the message that sex is okay.

Look around and see the generation of emotionally scarred young women who have heeded that message.

According to Ms. Johnson this bill will improve emergency contraception.

Is this what anyone would call supporting women? Do you really want young girls and women to take mega doses of birth control medications which effectively chemically abort a new life whenever they forget to use their birth control?

Again, she says this bill will provide compassionate assistance to rape victims. Do we really want to assault these women twice? Is the young woman going to feel better if she kills the child in her womb, and then has to live with that for the rest of her life?

And, what is compassionate about killing the other innocent and most vulnerable victim of the rape, the child in the womb?

Ms Johnson says, “The right to choose is a human right, not a woman’s right.”

Does anyone really have the right ‘to choose’ to murder another innocent person?

What about the preborn baby in the womb, what about his/her rights?

Do you really know where Barack Obama stands on women’s issues? Look at his voting record.

  • He supports the Freedom of Choice Act which will invalidate all state and federal limitations on abortions, including partial-birth abortion (which is used from the 5th month of pregnancy on and involves pulling a living baby feet first out of the womb, except for the head, puncturing the skull and suctioning out the brain.) And the majority of partial-birth abortions are performed on healthy babies of healthy mothers.

  • By opposing legislation that prohibited taxpayer funding of abortion, he supported taxpayer funding of abortion. Should government be in the business of paying for abortions with our tax dollars?

  • He opposed a parental notification law that requires an abortionist to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor girl from another state.

Barack Obama’s voting record tells where he stands on these issues—and, it is not in support of women or the young girls who are the next generation of women.
