NewsStarting Saturday, Green Valley birding aficionados will again present walks at the Arivaca Cienega. The walks will run from Saturday through April. The cienega, just east of the town of Arivaca, is a popular place for birds, and bird watchers. An announcement said there’s no charge to join the birders, “and all skill levels are welcome, beginners through experts.” Sponsors for the event are the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge and the Tucson Audubon Society. To get to the cienega, take Interstate 19 south to exit No. 48, drive about 25 miles southwest on the Arivaca Road to the site. The walk will start at 8 a.m. on a two-mile, flat and well-maintained trail. The sponsors said they’re going to try car pooling this year, and said people wanting a ride should go to the McDonalds at the Continental Shopping Plaza at 7 a.m. Those who hop the car pool ride will be asked to make a small contribution toward gas.
