Long-time Green Valley resident LOU ELLA BARNETT TAYLOR died Oct 8, in Snowflake, Ariz.

She was almost 99 years of age. Lou was born in Spring Lake, Utah, Jan 29, 1910, to Eli Francis (Frank) and Minnie Peery Barnett.

Lou and her husband, George, retired to Green Valley in 1974, and lived in Pueblo Estates for 25 years until his death in 2000.

Before retirement, Lou had been manager of a Better Business Bureau in Walnut Creek, Calif.

During World War II she served as a Marine Corps sergeant, one of the very first women Marines.

She is survived by her son John Taylor (Marsha) and by granddaughter Jordan Taylor.

The Taylors reside in both Show Low, Ariz. and Green Valley.


She is also survived by a brother, Elbert Barnett of Spring Lake, and sister Nedra Stauffer of Mesquite, Nev.

Lou will be buried next to George in the Barnett family plot in the Payson (Utah) City Cemetery, near Spring Lake.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the cemetery.
