Archaeologist to talk in Tubac about studying magnetic field changes

An archaeologist who’s an expert in archaeomagnetic dating will talk about some of his work in the Santa Cruz valley at 6 p.m. Thursday in Tubac.
Archaeomagnetic dating studies the changes in the Earth’s magnetic field to help establish the dates of some historical events.
The speaker is William Deaver, and he’ll be talking to a meeting of the Tubac/Santa Cruz County Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society.
The event is free and open to the public, and the talk will be preceded by a potluck at 5 p.m. at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park.
The talk will be in Otero Hall on the park grounds.
The organizers said some people may want to come earlier and tour the park. Admission to the state park to tour it is $3.
