ColumnsThere are at least nine situations listed in the Arizona Revised Statutes Title 28 where you are not allowed to pass another vehicle on the left side of the road. Put the paper down for a minute and try and name them. Now take a look. How well did you do? This has to do only with passing a moving vehicle going in the same direction on a roadway with one lane in each direction. No. 1: 28-726 and 28-727. When pavement markings or signs indicate “no passing.” No. 2: 28-726. Approaching the crest of a hill. No. 3: 28-726. On a curve. No. 4: 28-726. Within 100 feet of an intersection. No. 5: 28-726. Within 100 feet of a railroad crossing. No. 6: 28-725. If the left side is not clearly visible and is not free of oncoming traffic. No. 7: 28-726. Within 100 feet of a bridge. No. 8: 28-726. Within 100 feet of a tunnel. No. 9: 28-727. In a school zone. (I bet all of you got this one.) How many did you know? Or did you cheat? Watch for my next Rules of the Road and practice safe driving habits. Paul Kline is a member of the Sheriff’s Auxiliary volunteers in Green Valley.
