Pumpkin festival starts Sept. 27-28

Published: Saturday, September 20, 2008 8:15 PM MST

Fall is in the air at Apple Annie’s in Willcox.

It’s time for folks to start thinking about getting their Halloween and Thanksgiving pumpkins and Apple Annie’s is ready.

With more than 40 acres of pumpkins, it’s great fun to explore the fields to find the perfect pumpkin.

The Fall Pumpkin Celebration will start the weekend of Sept. 27-28 and run for five weekends.

Enjoy a hayride to the pumpkin patch, pick your own pumpkins, winter squash and other fall vegetables and shop for fall decorations, from mini pumpkins to decorative corn.

Hayrides will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day of the celebration; the cost is $3 per person, with children 2 and under free.

Pumpkins will range from $3-$20, depending on the size. As always, parking is free.

For more information on the Fall Pumpkin Celebration or any other Apple Annie events, visit www.AppleAnnies.com or call 520-384-4685. Take Interstate 10 to Willcox exit 340, turn onto Fort Grant Rd. for 12 miles, turn left on Williams Rd. and follow signs.

A portion of the proceeds from all of Apple Annie’s events are donated to March of Dimes, Lupus Foundation of Southern Arizona, Andrea’s Closet and Youth Haven Ranches.

During the past seven years, Apple Annie’s has donated over $43,000 to these fine organizations.
