NewsRetired Air Force Lt. General Thomas J. Keck has accepted an invitation from the Green Valley Lions Club to speak at its luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 25. He is currently Missile Systems Vice President of Air Force Programs at the Raytheon Co. in Tucson. General Keck joined Raytheon in 2003 after completing his 34-year U.S. Air Force career. At the time of his retirement, he was commander of the 8th Air Force, the last of a series of command assignments throughout the Air Force. At Raytheon, he has been vice president of the Air-to-Air Program since March 2005. The Air-to-Air program designs, develops, produces and supports premier air superiority weapons and related products. Prominent Air-to-Air programs are the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), and the AIM-9 Sidewinder family of missiles. Recognizing the importance of the Raytheon missile programs to the country’s defense and the impact of the Raytheon facility on Tucson and its environs, the Lions have opted to invite local residents to attend the luncheon. The luncheon will be at noon, in the Elks Lodge, 2951 S. Camino Mercado. For reservations, call Lions Club secretary Karen Leibengood at 648-5461.
