Here are a couple of recent license plate sightings …“4GAYMRG” … “SAVR” …

…And for your interest, there are 27 different kinds of plates available here, from one saluting the Arizona Diamondbacks to holders of the Purple Heart…

…They include plates for alternative fuel, character education (?), child abuse prevention, Arizona State, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, environmental, families of fallen police officers,

…Also the Golden Rule, military support/freedom, for a motorcycle, Navajo Nation, Pet Friendly/spay and neuter, pink ribbon/cancer awareness, San Carlos Tribe, transplantation awareness for organ donors, for trailers large and small,

…Also for amateur radio, purple heart for both car and motorcycle, street rod and veteran for both car and motorcycle…

…How about one for a nervous and jitterous newspaper reporter?…

  • Some headlines that got passed along by an editor (asleep?)…“Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter”…“Something Went Wrong in Jet Crash , Expert Says”…“If Strike Isn’t Settled Quickly It May Last Awhile”…

… “Man Struck by Lightning: Faces Battery Charge”…”Hospitals are Sued by 7 Foot Doctors”… and the finale “Local High School Dropouts Cut in Half”…

  • The Associated Press reports from Tokyo that a new variety of premium grapes has been introduced, and a single bunch sold for a much as $910…The bunch had about 35 Ruby Roman grapes, each slightly smaller than a pingpong ball…

…Fruit’s generally expensive in Japan and sometimes people buy it as a gift…There were indications that the high-priced bunch brought a “congratulatory price for its debut,” said an official at the fruit market…Other bunches in the sale last month sold for around $245 a bunch…

…Hmm, what would a box of passion fruit sell for?…

  • Special treat for some Utah livestock…Last month, Davis County employees wagered they could lose more weight than employees at the Davis Hospital and Medical Center…

…The winners’ bosses had to kiss some livestock…Commissioner Alan Hansen was missing the day other commissioners kissed some cattle, so he appeared later to kiss a horse named Reno…

…Before he puckered up, he popped a breath mint and put on some lip balm and told Reno “This is more for you than me”…

…County workers lost a total 397.6 pounds, slightly ahead of the hospital workers…
