American Essay Contest beginning for students

Green Valley Branch No. 77, Fleet Reserve Association, is now holding its annual Americanism Essay Contest for students in grades 7 through 12.

Students at Continental Middle School, Sahuarita Middle School, Anza Trail School and Sahuarita High School are encouraged to participate through their teachers and school.

All other students in these grades who are home-schooled or go to other area public and private schools are encouraged to participate as well. As No. 77 is the only Branch in Southeastern Arizona, all are welcome to participate.

This year’s theme is “What the United States flag stands for.”

Papers of 350 words or less are due by Dec. 1.

Grand Prize is a $15,000 Saving Bond. Other national, regional and local branch prizes as well. Go to www.fra.org/essay for details.
