Moxie

Moxie and her children (Brittany, Kelly, Mario, Pat, and Regina) are very special felines who were saved by a very special man. Practically everyone in the Green Valley area knows Mario Aguilar, the photographer for the Green Valley News, and all the wonderful things he has done for our community. Well, little did you know that he does great things for cats, too! He has been caring for Moxie and her babies since they were born in his yard several months ago.

Sadly, he can no longer continue to be their benefactor, so he asked TALGV to help him find just the perfect home for each of them so that he knows they will be as well cared for and loved as they were with him.

Moxie is a classic brown and white tabby lady who is just a “kid” herself - certainly no more than a year or so old. She is a bit shy right now, but once she learns that all is well and that she’s not going to have to go out into that scary big world out there, she’ll be as gentle and affectionate as can be.

Moxie and all of her kittens were named after Green Valley News people - a tribute to Mario and to all the nice folks there. You’ll want to help Moxie, the people at TALGV, and Mario sleep better at night knowing that Moxie and her kittens are safe and sound and happy in their own new loving homes!

Zelda

Zelda and her siblings were born under an abandoned trailer near Dawson Road in Sahuarita. The wonderful lady who fed them simply couldn’t leave them outside to fend for themselves, so she prevailed on the TALGV people to take them in and give them a chance at lives where they can be safe and loved.

Their mom is an outside cat who was quite friendly and she brought them to their rescuer’s house every day for extra food, so they had all been socialized a bit even before they came to TALGV, where they have been thoroughly pampered for the last month. Zelda is a beautiful, all white female with blue eyes who is about 4 months old right now, and has been checked over by the vet, had her shots, and is ready to go to a home where she can get on with the business of being a kitten and then turning into a loving and grateful forever feline friend to her people.

Lover Boy

That moniker fits him just perfectly! Lover Boy is a handsome, tan, newly neutered, Boxer-mix boy. The lady who found him and took him in had nothing but great things to say about him, including “quiet, loves people, housebroken” and “he’s a lover” (hence his name!). When asked about any “problem behavior” he might have, she said, quite emphatically, “NONE!!” (the exclamation points were hers).

He weighs 50 pounds, and although we’re not quite sure about his age, everyone agrees that he’s probably only a year or so old.

In the short time, Lover Boy was with his finder, he proved that he is very reliable when left alone in the house, is perfectly leash-trained (even off leash, although that’s not a great thing to do unless you’re in the doggie park), and just generally a wonderful companion. At this point, the best thing for you to do would be to come on in and spend some time with Lover Boy to see for yourself what a great pal he’ll be!

Solstice

Solstice is a 45-pound, male, blue heeler mix. His shots are up-to-date, he has been neutered, and has had a flea and tick treatment. He was “dumped” and subsequently rescued by his foster parents. He is an extremely good watchdog who does not bark unnecessarily. He talks to you if he does not get attention and is not destructive in any way. He sleeps outside on the deck in a kennel with blankets and is very quiet at night.

Solstice has a medium, soft coat. He likes to play catch and chew bones. He has a nice demeanor, being very calm and relaxed. He is quite intelligent, and fits right in. He enjoys kids and other dogs.

Solstice is an offsite dog currently living with his finder. He is a “honey” of a dog that deserves his own permanent and loving home. To find out more about Solstice and/or to make arrangements to meet him, please call TALGV’s Offsite Dog Coordinator, Cathie Fisher, at (520) 648-3738.
