NewsA 13-year-old Green Valley resident was arrested Sunday for stealing a golf cart, and authorities believe he may be connected to other golf cart thefts in the area, Pima County Sheriff’s reports said. Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a burglary attempt in the 500 block of West Rio Altar in The Villages of Green Valley. A witness told deputies he had seen a teenage boy pushing his neighbor’s golf cart out of the car port and down the driveway. When confronted, the boy ran, reports said. Deputies caught up with him near La Canada Drive and West San Ignacio and he was taken into custody. The boy, who is not being named because he is under 18, was charged with burglary in the third degree and theft of means of transportation. He was then taken to the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center. On Aug. 30, a golf cart was reported stolen from the 800 block of West Rio Altar. It was later found undamaged, abandoned in the same neighborhood. jrichardson@gvnews.com | 547-972
