ObituariesChester is survived by Sylvia, his beloved wife of 63 years; daughter Diane (Barry) Young; and his sister Helen Bison. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Valeria; daughter Mary Ann; brothers Charlie, Stanley, Wally and Joe; and sisters Lottie, Stella, Charlotte and Tessie. Chester was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1943. In 1946, he married the love of his life, Sylvia. In 1947, he was named Up and Coming Businessman of the Year by the Chicago Tribune. He owned several furniture manufacturing companies and furniture stores in Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana until his retirement in 1985. In 2004, he got back into furniture sales helping his daughter and son-in-law at Easy Living Furniture in Green Valley. Chester will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family, his enthusiasm, determination, ethics, and love of animals. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, at the Green Valley Mortuary, 18751 S. La Canada Drive. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Animal League of Green Valley or to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church for Mass.
