NewsThe Green Valley Mall, under its new name of the Green Valley Village, is sponsoring a food drive and free concert on Sept. 5. The food drive will benefit the Green Valley Community Food Bank with donations to be accepted from now until Sept. 5. Drop off non-perishable items at any participating Village merchant or at the official collection point in Suite #13. On Saturday, Sept. 5, Southern Arizona’s own Joe Bourne, award-winning vocalist, will perform and the donations will be presented to the Food Bank. Before the concert, there will be a ribbon-cutting as the first of a series of art benches will be officially unveiled. Tucson artist John McNulty of the Tucson Art Museum will be on hand for a brief discussion regarding the mosaic designs he created using handmade tiles produced by Santa Theresa Tileworks. Light refreshments will be served. Concert attendees are invited to bring two cans of non-perishable foods to donate to the food bank. This donation enters the giver in a drawing for $50 in GV Village dollars. The drawing will follow the concert and you must be present to win. Particularly needed items include: canned meats, canned vegtables, canned soups, cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit, condiments, dry pastas. For more information, call 625-6551.
