NewsArchie If you are “of a certain age,” you may remember red-headed Archie of comic book fame. Well…that’s how this winsome fellow got his name. He’s an outgoing, orange and white boy with no tail (could be a Manx in his family tree; we will never know), and he simply reminded his rescuers of the “original” Archie. He was found in the San Ignacio Golf Estates of Green Valley and was in good shape, so maybe he just wandered away from his people. Since Archie was about a year old and wasn’t neutered, that doesn’t bode well for having had a responsible family. The “deed” has now been done, and Archie is ready to make your life one filled with furry orange love, lap sitting, and many hours of feline-type entertainment. BarBQ If you’re looking for purrs, you’ve come to the right place! All the volunteers at TALGV are talking about how BarBQ starts her little motor going as soon as you touch her! And the sweet man who found her also said that she is “loving, talkative, and purrs constantly.” He also said that she is gentle and tolerant and that she is “needy” in that she really, really wants to be with people (no aloof feline here!). BarBQ is a young - maybe about 6- or 7-month-old - torti girl with a charming stripe down the middle of her face. She just showed up one day at her rescuer’s home in Madera Reserve, so he is thinking that she could have gotten lost from her “real” home and that someone may be looking for her. (She’s WAY too sweet to have been fending for herself for long!) But since she’s not claimed, their loss will be your gain when you take BarBQ home. You’ll not regret it for one single minute! Lark Whew! It’s a good thing there were only 10 in Lark’s family or we might have run out of “L” names! There were four girls and six boys in this litter that was found living in a tunnel in the side of a wash in Amado. A kind soul scooped them all up and, since there was (miraculously!) space for them at TALGV, bought Lark and her siblings here to be cared for until homes could be found for them. Lark is now a precious, 5 month-old chow/shepherd mix little girl, unique in her own special way. She is a fluffy, black ball of fur… still full of puppy kisses and goofiness. Like all youngsters, she needs a person or family with lots of love, patience, and time to spend teaching her “the ropes” of being a good canine companion. But your time will be well rewarded by many years of loyalty and love! Delia Delia’s five siblings and her mom, Delilah, have found their own wonderful homes. Delia is every bit as charming and beautiful as the other members of her family, so no one can figure out why she’s still here awaiting her special place in the world. Delia is a child of TALGV, having been born here on June 7, so she is really familiar with the place and knows all “the ropes” — like the doggie door (which will make her really easy to housebreak - even if you don’t have one!). Delia is a beautiful brown and tan golden retriever/shepherd mix. This roly-poly, “just-wanna-have-fun” type girl is feeling a little lonely these days because all of her family has gone on to their own lives. But we know that her special family is out there, right around the corner, ready to take her home and make her theirs. Puppies do take a special amount of time and training, but for the extra time you spend with Delia, she will reward you with a lifetime of canine devotion! For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W.
