Teachers’ experience

The “Open Letter to Parents With Schoolchildren” was excellent.

I suggest it be printed every year and included in the Sahuarita Sun. Barbara’s experience is one shared by all teachers.

When a teacher feels supported by the parents, the child will succeed no matter what difficulties arise. No teacher wants a child to fail.

What I have also experienced and heard of too many times was parents wanting their child changed to another classroom because they were upset with the teacher.

Sometimes a meeting with the parents, teacher and principal resolved the issue.

Many times the teacher just agreed because s/he didn’t want to take a chance of another negative encounter with the parents. What message does that give the child?

I would like to add one more suggestion to Barbara’s list. Number 4: If possible, volunteer an hour a week in your child’s classroom.

You will be richly rewarded and truly appreciate what that teacher does.
