Take care of basic needs

In regards to the Aug. 8 article covering Randy Graf and the debate on leaving Pima County. Without doubt we do not receive funding in Green Valley that even comes close to our tax contributions to Pima County.

I am not sure if this problem of unfair distribution of tax revenues is the result of some rare virus or an addiction that attacks our administrators and area politicians creating lack of vision and the desire to waste public tax dollars. I suppose it simply could be the same old tax and spend syndrome we have seen for years.

To my disgust and dismay, those in charge of tax dollars get excitement and fulfillment from wasting money on new parks, arenas, baseball stadiums and throwing money into holes that are absolutely not priorities for the majority of the taxpayers!

Those in charge need to understand that most of us taxpayers want the basic needs addressed first.

In Green Valley, our roads are falling apart and they have no intention of initiating any major projects to resurface our roads. The basic expenditures must be for roads and schools and then if we have a surplus they can spend it on non essentials. Green Valley has several roads that should be a priority and Abrego should be at the top of the list.

Will changing counties remedy our situation? I doubt it, and as a community we need to aggressively pursue the fulfillment of our basic needs with Pima County.
