People in the News

Exclusive photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins fetched $14 million, a person involved in the negotiations told The Associated Press, giving People magazine and a British tabloid joint rights to publish the most expensive celebrity pictures ever sold.

The person asked not to be named because he was not authorized to release the figure. People will feature twin babies Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon in an issue to hit newsstands Monday, spokeswoman Nancy Valentino said.

The money, more than double the $6 million People paid for Jennifer Lopez’ twins on a March cover, according to Forbes, will go to a foundation created by Pitt and Jolie that largely focuses on helping children around the world.

  • Comedian David Spade, a Scottdale native, has given $10,000 to the Humane Society of the White Mountains in Pinetop-Lakeside, Ariz.

Shelter director Anna-Marie Rea says the star of CBS’ “Rules of Engagement” visited the shelter last month. Rea says he promised to write a check and it arrived earlier this week. Spade’s mother volunteers at the shelter.

  • Lindsay Lohan says that police have no business getting involved in her personal life, a day after the police chief explained that the paparazzi were no longer an issue, in part because the 22-year-old actress had evidently “gone gay.”

“Police chiefs shouldn’t get involved in everyone else’s business when it comes to their personal life. It’s inappropriate,” Lohan said in a video shot by paparazzi and posted on TMZ.com. Chief William Bratton had said the paparazzi have become less of a problem thanks to Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lohan leading more moderate lifestyles.

“If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody anymore, thank God, and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don’t seem to have much of an issue,” he told KNBC-TV in Los Angeles.
