NewsGreen Valley News Police officers and Neighborhood Watch groups in Sahuarita are getting ready for National Night Out events Tuesday. The goal of National Night Out is to bring communities and police officers together to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness as well as to strengthen neighborhood spirit. National Night Out is a nationwide event to promote police-community partnerships and local anti-crime programs. It is recognized in more than 10,000 communities, including the town of Sahuarita . Some of the events held across the country include block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks and contests. National Night Out promotes formation of a Neighborhood Watch and allows participants to get to know their neighbors.
