Sahuarita residents to celebrate National Night Out

Police officers and Neighborhood Watch groups in Sahuarita are getting ready for National Night Out events Tuesday.

The goal of National Night Out is to bring communities and police officers together to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness as well as to strengthen neighborhood spirit.

National Night Out is a nationwide event to promote police-community partnerships and local anti-crime programs. It is recognized in more than 10,000 communities, including the town of Sahuarita .

Some of the events held across the country include block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks and contests. National Night Out promotes formation of a Neighborhood Watch and allows participants to get to know their neighbors.

Residents are invited to attend the following National Night Out events:


Rancho Sahuarita

  • Camino Ranco Felice (Camino Rancho Felice/Placita Tierra Linda): 6-8 p.m.

  • Camino Tierra Alegre (South cul-de-sac): Potluck dinner at 6 p.m.

  • Sonora Del Webb (Sonora Clubhouse): Ice cream social and community walk from 7-9 p.m.

  • Vuelta Olivera (926 W. Vuelta Olivera): Ice cream social at 7 p.m.

  • Encanto del Lago (117 E. Placita Lago Bello): Ice cream social at 6-7:30 p.m.

  • Paseo Celestial: Potluck BBQ at 5:30 p.m.

    Rancho Abrego

  • Rancho Abrego- Mountain View Acres (the end of El Dora) Potluck BBQ: 6:30 p.m.

  • La Canada Norte 2 (Placita del Codillo West of Camino Confianza): 6-8 p.m.

  • Las Colianas (Cam. Acierto/Cam. Armoniosa @ park): Ice cream social 6-8 p.m.

  • Los Arroyos (Community Park) Community walk: 7-8 p.m.

  • Madera Highlands (Community Park) Potluck BBQ: 5-7 p.m.
