The newly formed Sahuarita Art Guild is looking for enthusiastic members. The guild’s goals are to support local artists through exhibits, shows and demonstrations. Adult and child workshops and community involvement also planned. Meetings are once a month at the Sahuarita Town Hall. Information: Sherry Darrah, 399-2843, or Sue Payne, 822-8824.

Democratic Women in Action will have an Ice Cream Social starting at 12:30 p.m. at Friends in Deed. Speaking will be Andrea Dalessandro, Arizona House candidate; Georgette Valle, Arizona Senate candidate; Donna Branch-Gilby and Sharon Bronson, County Supervisor candidates; a representative for U.S. Rep. At 9:30 a.m. at the Joyner-Green Valley Library, the Citizens Water Action Coalition, having invited the candidates for and current members of the Pima County Supervisors, will present those who could come: Donna Branch-Gilby and Robert Robuck. Sharon Bronson and Donna Branch Gilby will be available for the Aug. 23 meeting. We hope that Ramon Valadez will also be available then. We also hope to have Jonathan Paton and Georgette Valle, candidates for the Arizona Senate, there as well. So come anyway, even if plans did not work out as we had hoped. Women’s Council of Realtors sixth annual golf tournament has a shotgun start at 7 a.m. at Starr Pass Country Club, Tucson. Four person scramble with contests, raffles, prizes. East Meets West in Cosmetic Technology presentation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at Madera Cultural Center at the Amado Territory Ranch. Sponsored by the Center for Positive Living, it will be an opportunity to learn about the use of herbs, acupuncture, massage and other techniques for optimizing your beauty from within to the skin. Green Valley Rotary meets at 11:45 a.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, 600 La Canada Drive. Stephanie Medina, a student at La Cholla High School in Tucson, will present highlights of her travels involving a youth program sponsored by a grant from the club. Green Valley Forum meets at 10 a.m. at East Center. Suzanne Nelson will speak on “Going Native.” She will give an overview of the work of Native Seeds/SEARCH. All GVR members and their eligible guests welcome.

Sahuarita Farmers and Artisans Market, 5 to 8 p.m. in the Town Center Complex, 375 W. Sahuarita Center Way. This market will take place every Wednesday. Information: 822-8824
