Four in search of friends and a home

Published: Tuesday, July 22, 2008 9:16 PM MST

There is not much time left to adopt a new pet before school starts again. TALGV is just a short, convenient drive away from anywhere in Green Valley or Sahuarita. Please stop in soon.

Kitty

Kitty has been living with her foster family for a while since her owner could no longer keep her. Sadly, they have another cat that terrorizes Kitty, and although they’ve really tried, they finally had to admit that there was never going to be even an “armed truce.” So, since Kitty is such a sweet, outgoing, lap cat, they are hoping that she will be able to find a home where she’ll be safe and loved. She likes kids, adores dogs, and would be fine with another cat as long as he or she was okay with Kitty!

She is a beautiful, 6-year-old, spayed, dilute calico lady with striking green eyes who has lived her whole life indoors. She loves to cuddle up and sleep with her foster dad who is going to be sad when Kitty leaves.

She only eats dry food, so for those of you who aren’t crazy about fishy, canned cat food smells, she would be the perfect companion! There are lots more good things that Kitty’s foster mom can tell you about her, so won’t you please call her at 520-297-9401, or you may contact TALGV’s Offsite Cat Coordinator Linda Moser at 399-2566.

Smokey

It took a lot of “getting” to get him here, but thank goodness he made it! The lady who rescued him used a choke collar and leash on Smokey, and it just scared the daylights out of him, so he was pretty frightened when he first arrived. It didn’t take long, though, for him to realize that the people at TALGV are very kind and only want the best for him.

His rescuer had been feeding him for a few weeks in her neighborhood (The Villages), and since he was such a friendly fellow, she thought that maybe he belonged to someone. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find his owner, nor could she keep him, so here he is - ready to go home with YOU!

Smokey is a handsome, blue/grey, short-haired, guy who is probably about 2 years old. His coat looks very much like a Russian Blue although he is not quite as stocky as they tend to be. But, hey, you never know! After his ordeal, he promises that he won’t want to go back “out there” any more, and all Smokey wants is to be able to curl up next to you and thank you for bringing him into your life!

Cowboy

What a difference a day makes! Cowboy and his friend, Smokey, were wandering in Rancho Sahuarita wondering where their next meal was coming from, when they were rescued and brought to TALGV. Now they’ve got tons of stuff to eat, plenty of fresh water and lots of attention from all the great people here.

Cowboy is a tan, terrier-type boy who is about 2-3 years old. He is as wiggly, exuberant, and outgoing as any puppy, so everyone agrees that although Cowboy hasn’t had any real training, he’s so eager to please that he’ll shape up in no time for the right people. He’s on the small side, weighing only about 25 pounds, but it’s all pure love, so his dream is to share it with a new, active family who will have time to mold him into a splendid friend.

Buddie

A friend of Buddie’s mom gave him to her a year ago when he was just a puppy, but since she already had two other dogs and a cat, pretty soon it became too much for the family to take care of all of them. Buddie is a neutered, black retriever mix guy who is housebroken (he “asks” at the door), gets along with other animals (if they’re friendly!), and knows a few basic commands.

Since he’s been living in a very active, “something’s-always-going-on” type household, he hasn’t really had a lot of attention for himself, so he’s hoping for a person or family that will have the time to spend with just him.

He would benefit from some “real” obedience training (as would most dogs), and that might be just the thing for Buddie and his new family to create a lasting bond!
