Several homes near the Sahuarita Heights area have been burglarized over the past three weeks, according to Pima County Sheriff’s reports, and officers have been notified to increase their visibility in the neighborhood.

Many of the homes being targeted are in new developments or currently under construction, reports say.

On Tuesday, owners discovered the garage door of their new home in the 1700 block of S. Carter Lane in the Sahuarita Highlands development bashed in, with several electronic devices and tools missing from the garage.

In the previous week, a home in the 1600 block of South Delgado Road was broken into, the culprits taking a chipping hammer worth $800 from an open garage.

On June 28, a laptop computer was taken from a residence in the 1600 block of Santa Rita Road. Police believe the thief entered the home through an open window.

On the 23rd, a home under construction was discovered burglarized, its back door pried open with a crow bar. Several items were taken from the home, located in the 1600 block of South Delgado, including a 42-inch LCD television set, two shotguns and $200 in cash.
