Crime Log: Area homes, businesses, burglarized

A man was arrested over the weekend for breaking into several cars near the 3000 block of West Curly Horn Road in Sahuarita, Pima County Sheriff’s reports said.

Luis Sanchez Trevino, 26, was arrested for stealing three car stereos, two cell phones and a puppy Saturday morning.

Shortly after officers arrived, Trevino was discovered riding a bike in the nearby Rancho Resort community. He was attempting to hide himself, the puppy and the stolen items in some shrubbery, reports said.

Trevino cooperated with officers in returning the stolen items. He was booked into Pima County Adult Detention Center.

Several other burglaries have taken place in the Green Valley area in the past week.

  • Also on Saturday, four tires and four rims were found stolen from a vehicle that had been towed to Hickey Automotive at 250 W. Calle de las Tiendas, reports said. The car had been in the parking lot overnight, and was discovered by its owner that morning jacked up with its tires missing.


  • A Green Valley home in the 700 block of West Placita El Cueto was found burglarized Sunday, reports said. The owners, who were not living in the house at the time, discovered the door kicked in and two large flat screen TVs, two DVD players and a stereo system stolen.

  • Another Green Valley home was found burglarized Wednesday. The owners were out of town for the summer and friends checking on the house in the 1700 block of S. Calle Montanosa discovered the door kicked in and a big screen T.V. missing from the residence. Also missing were the unknown contents of a safe.

  • On Thursday, a laptop and video camera were discovered stolen from Caterpillar Inc. west of Sahuarita. Also taken were three pairs of wire cutters. Sheriff’s officers found evidence that a cabinet containing several other laptops had been tampered with.
