Cochise and the Apache Wars will be the topic at the Summer Performances Series at the Community Performing Arts and Learning Center. Jack Lasseter will speak at 7 p.m. Tickets: $5. Seating limited. Information: www.performingartscenter.org
Area teens are invited to a theater arts class from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Joyner-Green Valley Library. Lively and interactive way to learn theater skills. Focus on developing character and scene structures. Led by DD Jay, founder of FoxPaws Improv Troupe, an intergenerational group of players. Free, but group size limited. Preregistration required. Green Valley Forum meets at 10 a.m. at East Center. Curt Pederson will speak on “Rescue in Scandinavia,” and focus on the moral courage it took to save individuals from the Nazi gas chambers. His talk will be based on his knowledge and experiences. All GVR members and their eligible guests are welcome.

Dupnik, running for re-election, will speak on his plans and experience. The Pay Day Loan initiative and the campaign to defeat it will be discussed by David Higuera. Free and open to the public. Free lectures on why you may be fatigued will be given at the First Resort Naturopathic Medical Clinic starting at 10 a.m. when Dr. Jack Hinze will speak on “Hormones and the Immune System.” At 11 a.m., Dr. Donald Mayfield will speak on “Critical Microelements in your Diet.” First Resort is at 170 N. La Canada Drive, Ste 90. Information: 399-9212.
A miniature Arizona ranch created by the Spinning Study Group of the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild will be on display at the Joyner-Green Valley Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. El Rancho de Rociante was handmade using handspun yarn. The guild’s 25 members even used the yarn for fields of dirt, a vegetable garden and a cotton field. There also will be spinning demos.
