NewsThe Baymont Inn & Suites on Esperanza Boulevard in Green Valley has a new owner. The $4.2 million deal was finalized July 1, with owner Frank Bertolino selling to Ramesh Patel. Patel owns two other motels in Tucson and Las Vegas, he said, but no other businesses in the Green Valley area. Bertolino owns the Cow Palace Restaurant in Amado. Currently a Tucson resident, Patel said he previously lived in Green Valley for more than two years. “I used to live out here about four years ago,” he said. “I love this area.” He and his wife, a nurse, enjoyed the area so much that they began looking for ways to invest in it. “I was inquiring about property in the area for the last six months,” Patel said. Baymont Franchise Systems recently celebrated the opening of it 200th property, according to a release from the Wyndham Hotel Group. The Wyndham Worldwide Corp. acquired the Baymont brand two years ago, the release said. Since the acquisition, the Baymont brand has reported a growth of 52 percent, the release said. Now that he owns the Baymont, which has 55 rooms, down in Green Valley, Patel said, he has no big plans in store for the hotel at the moment. “I don’t have any special plans to make any changes, especially in the near future,” he said. djordan@gvnews.com | 547-9732
