Riddle rejoins GVR board

Former Green Valley Recreation Board of Directors member Stan Riddle will be returning to the board to fill the vacancy left by former member Joe Roth.

Riddle, also a member of the Green Valley Community Coordinating Council board of directors, has seven years of experience with the GVR.

“I served as president of the organization, vice president of the organization and treasurer twice,” Riddle said.

Riddle served on the board up until his term expired last year.

“I ran for re-election and missed it by eight votes,” he said. “So I’m actually next in line.”

Riddle will be replacing Roth after Roth resigned last week, citing what he called the deliberative and indecisive nature of the board.

“That happens on any board of directors, I don’t care if it’s Green Valley Recreation, Wells Fargo or whoever it may be,” said Riddle. “There are times when the board doesn’t respond on a timely basis, but that’s just part of doing business.”

Riddle said he would return to help “Green Valley Recreation continue to be the premier recreation facility organization that it is.”

“I’m extremely pleased,” said Green Valley Recreational President Altie Metcalf. “He brings a wealth of experience already on GVR, so that’s actually a benefit when you’re bringing in somebody after the board year has already started.”

Metcalf said that Riddle’s experience will help ease the transition. “It helps the continuity to have someone who already knows how the committee’s work, already knows the rules and so forth.”

Once Riddle completes the nearly three years remaining in Roth’s term, he will have served on the GVR for 10 years, nearly seven of which he was not officially elected.

“It started in 2000, when a member resigned, and I was fifth in line, I believe, at that time, and he had a remaining term of two years,” Riddle said. “I completed that two-year term and then I completed another two-year term after that, and then I decided to run again and was elected outright.

“It is kind of interesting,” he said.

In many areas of the country Mr. Woods would be free to select other desired items. The resident's initial call would have been ignored since the suspicious person did not seemingly gain entrance was no longer present. "
