Obituariesin North Providence, R.I., the son of Vinton Searle and Eva Brunelle Searle, passed away on June 12, 2008. He joined the U.S. Navy after high school graduation. Following WWII, he attended Brown University and married Vivian Carrier on Oct. 15, 1949 in North Providence. In 1959, they bought the West Barrington Drug in W. Barrington, R.I., which they owned and operated for 25 years. They retired in 1986 and spent six months in New Hampshire and six months in Green Valley, becoming full-time Green Valley residents in 2000. He was a member American Legion Post #66 and the Elks Lodge of Green Valley. He sang for over 10 years in the choir at Our Lady of the Valley and also sang for a short time in the Green Valley Community Chorus. He is survived by Vivian, his wife of 58 years; brother Herbert of Jamestown, R.I.; sister Barbara LaFrance of Clear Water, Fla. and sister-in-law Mrs. Dorothy Carrier of Westerly, R.I.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the choir at Our Lady for their generosity in providing transportation to Odyssey Hospice every day. Thanks also to Odyssey for their wonderful care of Norman in his last days. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2008, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Norman’s name to the Green Valley Food Bank.
