Briefly: Continental School Board meets Monday night

The Governing Board of Continental School District No. 39 will have a study session and a board meeting on Monday at 1991 E. White House Canyon Road.

The study session will be at 5:30 p.m. in the school library. Topic will be goals for 2008-09.

The board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.

Among the agenda items are:

  • Consideration and approval of 38 substitute teachers;

  • Contract for new Superintendent James H. Nelson;


  • Renewal of certified teaching contracts for 24 teachers and offers of employment to 17 classified employees;

  • Consider and approve opening and posting the position of principal for Continental School District, effective June 10;

  • Consider and approve payment to outgoing Superintendent Gaye Leo of all sick, vacation, personal leave and moving expenses as per the Superintendent’s contract.

    GV Mall becomes Food Bank drop site

    The Green Valley Mall has become a drop off location for the Green Valley Community Food Bank.

    The collection point is located in the mall office in Suite 13.

    Items need are canned meats, vegetables and soups; cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit, condiments, dry pasta and other non-perishables.
