NewsStarting July 1, Green Valley residents living south of Continental Road and west of Interstate 19 will be switching to the 85622 ZIP code. According to Peter Hass, of the USPS Public Affairs, the ZIP code is currently used only by boxes in the Green Valley post office. The expansion will add over 4,600 street addresses to the 85622 ZIP code. All of those whose ZIP codes will be affected by the change will be receiving notification from the post office within the next week, a release from the USPS said. All of those who do not receive a written notification will not be affected by the changing ZIP code. “Nothing north of Continental or east of I-19 is changing,” said David Laroque, a carrier supervisor for the Green Valley Post Office. The change is being made in order to streamline the growing mail deliveries that accompany the increasing population of the area, the release said. The new expansion borders Interstate 19 to the east and extends west to include all addresses, while the northern border stops at and includes Continental Road, and the southern border lies just past Elephant Head Road, said Sandy Rios, post master for the Green Valley Post Office.
